Some stuff we did for Church……

A little while ago i was asked to contribute to the ideas for the renovation of our Youth Hall in Church

So, i won’t disturb the visual aspect of this post too much.

Upon being given the new name for the Youth Hall i created this logo

logo

This following 4 images are presented as shown and are 600x600mm prints of photographs taken by Navyblur - all the images are places within our Church building – so technically that has nothing to do with me but we love the images so i need to show them…

The following two images were created by Cherith and I – she built the paper house you see below, genius!

Our initial thoughts were to use 2 verses/passages of scripture that could resonate across all age groups in our congregation, and reflect them graphically in some way without it being too cheesy or cliche’d – we hope we achieved that. These are 1200x800mm prints and are side by side on a wall at the coffee bar.

I need to thank those who involved us in the process, it’s been a blast but also to our friend Laura who appears in the above image.

There will be good images of the opening coming soon from Navyblur, promise!

What i’ve been up to………..

page 1The work that has kept me occupied over last few weeks is exciting, i think!

Our Church has a newly gathered team of people to deal with media/communications and a while ago i began a conversation that has led to the re-designing of our Church magazine. Its previous incarnations were around 6 to 8 pages but we ended up whacking that figure up to 28, as you do!

Some of the previous aspects of the magazine remain for now, but for the most part its a complete re-design! Thats the cover of this issue you see on the left……

I think we have been cautious yet bold in how we pieced this together and designed it but there is lots more potential and i am pretty excited about being on board with the process.

Its been amazing to see & learn about some of the amazing stuff that people are doing in our Church. Ministries that id either just heard mentioned or was totally unaware of are now a bit more real to me. The hope is that as this magazine goes into the homes of all our members, that they will see the work of our Church in a new light and also feel compelled to get involved. Anyone who says there is nothing for them in High Kirk Presbyterian Church needs to see this information and waken up!

The other thing, which i cannot show you just yet is, some artwork and images that we collaborated on to ‘decorate’ our new Youth Hall in Church. I cannot wait to see the finished room, its due to be completed over the next week or two, but its seriously been well thought through and should be awesome.

As well as the original creations, the ‘kids’ from Navyblur have taken some amazing images of the Church that we will use around the room. I think i’m more excited about that now that we have started to single out the images we will use.

So, its been a busy few weeks

more soon…..

Last Exit To Nowhere

I literally have not seen anyone else in Northern Ireland with a Last Exit To Nowhere T-shirt on …….

Part of me loves that because it appeals to my quirky unique individuality and enhances my ego. (i jest)

Its even better when someone gets the film reference without being prompted, thats happened once!

But part of me wonders where the film geeks are? I’m hardly a complete film buff but i love these – you should as well! You know it makes sense!

I think i got the last ‘skynet’ shirt with this order – but what are the 2 films represented here?

Go see and buy a shirt – www.lastexittonowhere.com
