12 reasons why I recommend Squarespace

Professional and easy to use

  1. Squarespace has the power to deliver an incredibly professional looking website very quickly (if you or your designer knows how to look professional 😉).

  2. It’s easy to use and coding knowledge is not required. If you have coding skills you can customise things but, in most cases with Squarespace you will not need to. The mobile friendly platform works on all screen sizes, delivering a website that looks great on all mobile devices.

    Affordable

  3. It’s affordable and flexible. You can change to a more expensive subscription option at any time if you need extra features like commerce for example. You can also downgrade to a less expensive option at any time.

    Safe, secure and SEO ready

  4. An SSL certificate is a digital certificate that authenticates your websites identity and enables an encrypted connection. SSL is fully integrated with no complicated set-up when you use Squarespace.

  5. Search Engine Optimisation is easy with Squarespace. Like coding, you can dig deeper into this and customis but the options for getting started with SEO are terrific and easy to use.

  6. Squarespace websites are secure and offer 24/7 support. I’ve only ever needed to reach out to them for technical help once and they were fast, efficient and helpful.

    Integration is easy

  7. Integrating your social networks is easy.

  8. The commerce features on Squarespace are exceptional. During the global pandemic one of my clients required an online shop set-up when they had to close their premises to the public. The process was slick and easy and during one of the most difficult periods in recent years for businesses, we were able to provide a quick professional solution because of Squarespace.

  9. Setting up a blog is easy if you want to offer regular updates.

  10. The analytics features built into Squarespace are superb, delivering all the insight you need to keep track of stats and enabling you to strategise for growth and the evolution of your web presence and/or business.

Don’t worry about the techy stuff

  11. Bought a domain elsewhere? Need to re-direct it or even transfer it directly to Squarespace? These processes are simple, url mappings don’t need to be complicated.

  12. Email campaigns are easy to set up and use.

Conclusion and a word about what I.T. people and some other web developers will tell you

This is the most important part of the post.

I understand that in some cases, depending on what your needs are and on the size of your business, you may need a more bespoke website. Bringing in the big developers might be needed for commerce or integrating large databases of products/information. However, don’t let anyone tell you that Squarespace is a bad option because you don’t have control or because you are handing your content and identity to them with no guarantee you’ll be able to get it back should you need to move.

That’s horse shit!

It’s 2022. The world has moved on since all-in-one web based platforms first arrived. These theories simply aren’t true.

I have moved websites from Squarespace to Wordpress (self hosted) and back on several occasions with no issues, no identity theft and no loss of content.

And a final word about design…

Everything I’ve said above points to the fact that you can set up your own website easily with Squarespace but, there’s one caveat.

If you are not a designer then beware! Setting up and adding content to your Squarespace site will more than likely be easy but, you have the potential to still present yourself unprofessionally if you have no background in or knowledge of web design. This can cause serious harm to your business.

Web design is not only about creating what you like or think ‘looks nice.’

Understanding colours, type and layout is important and hiring a designer is still really important.

You can definitely do it yourself but, you could end up creating a monster.
