An info dump is not a brief

I have often struggled to explain this or to put my foot down and say ‘this is not a brief’ but, an info dump is not a brief.

When building a website, creating a booklet or carrying out any kind of design for that matter, you need a thought process and detail.

It’s not usually possible to have absolutely everything decided prior to beginning but, in my experience the starting point is often far too early and happens long before an adequate amount of thought and planning has went into the project.

And so, designers often get an info dump which is not a brief.
