My child could do that - can it

My child could do that - an exploration of art, design and clueless clients.

During the 2020 pandemic my design work slowed down, became more frustrating and was saturated with cans.

Can you do this quickly? Can you send us a version we can edit? Can you make the logo bigger? Can you change the colours? Can we just go back to the first idea? Can you do it exactly like [insert other brand or designers work]? Can you take the logo from our website? Can you do this for less money?

Too many cans. From every angle.

The design process isn’t as much of a collaboration between client and me as most clients think. It’s a design problem being solved by me, paid for by a client with a limited number of revisions and stupid questions allowed before I lose my temper. This is probably why I’m happier to say I’m more artist than I am designer. Although, in some cases when I’m enthusiastic about a brand or business and count the client as a friend, exceptions are made.

You don’t need to ask these daft questions of your designer though. You need to let go of stuff you don’t know about or understand.

Can it and let the designer do their stuff.
